Avantasia - The Mystery Of Time (SOtD DCCXL)

Avantasia was born in 1999 as a one project band to do a Metal Opera, but 5 albums and 2 EPs later, has become a full fledged band. Tobias Sammet's baby, where he can explore the more orchestral and vocal side of his music.
The Mystery Of Time is the sixth album of the German Symphonic Power Metal band.

Avantasia - The Metal Opera Part II (SOtD DVII)

After the surprise caused by The Metal Opera in 2001, The Metal Opera II in 2002 wasn't really a surprise. It was the confirmation that Tobias Sammet and his guests, under the name Avantasia, knew how to make one of the best Symphonic Power Metal out there.

Song Of the Day - CCLXXVI - Avantasia

One of my favorite Avantasia songs.
It suits perfectly Klaus Meine's voice, and even the riffs and song structure reminds me a Scorpions song.

Song Of the Day - CCVIII - Avantasia

Since I'm in a Pop covers mood, I found this one apropriate to signal my return to work, afert a ten days leave for the birth of my new baby daughter.

The original is from Ultravox, and it's an eighties classic, here re-done by Avantasia.

Song Of the Day - XII - 70s and 80s Pop Covers

There is so much great Metal music, that I felt lost when trying to decide the Song Of the Day for each day. So I decided to start having some weekly themes, narrowing my universe of possibilities.

This weeks theme is 70s and 80s Pop covers done by Metal bands.

We start the week with a great Power Metal band, doing a cover of one of the most famous Pop bands of the 70s and 80s.
